Under Construction

Welcome to my shrine! This is a page for all Ernest Footley and LegumeSoft FX-26 fans. Besides the stock tape loader the FX-26 featured the most creative concept the home computing world had ever seen: an add-on shaped like a toaster that actualy played games that came on pieces of toast with the data burned onto it that was read by the FX-26 in real time. Of course the bread got moldy after a while so you had to buy another copy but it was marketed toward kids so nobody cared back then. The world was a different place and computing was still a novelty. Can you imagine if VCR tapes came on toast?

After the success of Ernest Footley they put out a bunch of seuels that were a lot of fun but honestly sold worse and worse. After six months the ToastMe add-on was discontinued and rumors were already spreading about how they managed to release so many Ernest Footley games in that amount of time, from unpaid interns, copied program codes and LegumeSoft not being able to lay off their main staff but shifting them to "the black hole of the Ernest department". Despite these rumors and the Teeth-O's Cereal scandal going around they relesed an Ernest Footley Collection on standard FX-26 tape two years later. It didn't have all the games and by this time the FX-26 was outdated so the only way to make the money back was to port the collection to every home computer under the sun. Many years later they finished the Windows compatible version which turned out to be the last as the company went under due to unpaid taxes. Nowadays this is the most wellknown version and you can download it below as abandonware.
